Operation Ultra Coat

Your mission if you choose to accept it is to create a system the will produce a C.O.B. - Clear over base powder coat system for a major Australian B.B.Q. manufacturer.

Ultimate B.B.Q.’s and Wood Heaters required a high quality metallic powder coat over coated with a clear polyester powder coat, it’s what they call their ‘Ultra Coat finish’.

The clear enhances the sparkle and depth of the metallic base coat and provides an extremely durable and glossy finish. This dual coat system will retain its quality appearance for years even with the harshest exterior exposure.

In order to coat the thousands of parts required each season in a cost effective manor Hilustre modified one of their existing lines to apply the Ultra Coat finish in one operation.

This required the building of a roll in spray booth and an electric infra red oven to apply and bake the base colour prior to the application of the clear coat in a second spray booth and the final bake cycle. This is the only line of its type in the southern hemisphere. We can also customise metallic and pearlescent colours to your requirements. Contact us for more details.
