Robotic Spray Painting Division

Hilustre can use its experience in designing and operating Australia’s first robotic painting plant custom designed to paint joinery components. A turnkey system can be tailored to your specific needs to suit your products and through put requirements.

Fast, efficient, precise and easy to operate - no previous robotics experience is required. The system is purpose designed and built to paint with unrivalled quality and consistency. Over three years in development, this is a ground breaking process utilizing the latest in robotics and automatic spray gun technology. Comparable in price to generic imported spray painting machines, with the flexibility and versatility of robotics.

“To observe this system in action is impressive due to its innovative design. The articulation of the robotic arm provides greater flexibility than automated spraying machines. I am unaware of any spray painting system that is so advanced and yet so practical.”

The heart of the system is a custom designed software program connected to the robot controller via a standard computer. This Windows based operating system is designed for ease of use – no previous robotics experience is required for the operator. Parts are identified via a bar code scanner or key board entry and the optimizing program determines the position of each part on the delivery table to maximize efficiency of the spray painting process.

The spraying program is the heart of the system and provides total flexibility of all control parameters;

  • Paint fluid volumes.
  • Air pressures for atomization and shape of spray fan.
  • Separate settings for spraying of component faces and edges.
  • Gun target distance and velocity.
  • Multiple coats and tack-off times.
  • The robot can rotate the gun upside down to spray the underside of components.
  • The selected variables can be stored as separate ‘spray patterns’ making replication of the process simple and free from operator error.

The system is comprised of two separate pressurized chambers, one for loading unloading and a separate robot spraying chamber. Pneumatic safety doors and insolating switches on all entrances provide for total operator safety. The paint delivery system is via a simple pressure pot and a ‘closed loop feedback’ system that controls the precise flow of paint on every pass.

Colour changing is quick and simple; scan a command with the bar code reader and the robot purges the paint into a waste receptacle and then self cleans the gun head! A complete color change in under 5 minutes, producing less than a liter of waste. Take the leap and shift your business into the new age of robotics.
